What I did on my summer vacation

The best vacation EVER was spent this summer at the beach in North Carolina with my family. Something about the sand, the surf, the souls tumbling together in a sandy, sunny place...

I liked to drag my chair to the water and let the waves slosh around my ankles.

Grace was my little beachcomber buddy. If I was in the water, she was in the water. If I just wanted to sit and watch the waves, that was okay, too. She enjoyed everything about the beach. And I enjoyed her.

Every vacation should be this sweet, I'm thinking. I'm also thinking maybe now I know why my brother always looks so deeply, richly happy.
